Top 3 Entry Level Electric RC Vehicles
January 15th 2021
Remote-controlled (RC) cars and trucks are not just for kids. They are for anyone looking for a fun hobby that is unique and exciting and it is our greatest joy at RC Nation to introduce as many Kamloops folks as we can to the hobby and sport of RC. We’re all about helping Canadians have fun.
RC vehicles can be as basic or as complex as your budget allows but deciding what to choose when starting can be tricky, particularly since learning to operate a hobby-grade RC takes patience and skill. So before you go all out to buy the best, it’s important to know that purchasing an entry-level car or truck to start with will inspire confidence as you gain skills. After that, the sky's the limit. We know you will not stop at just one, but here are our top three entry-level RCs for getting started with racing at the track or in the yard or with rock-crawling and trailing in the Kamloops area.
Top 3 Entry Level Electric RCs
1. Traxxas Slash Short Course Truck.
With Traxxas Training mode engaged, maximum speed is capped at 50% making this truck a solid choice for beginners. Training Mode enables you to hone your skills and get a feeling for controlling your truck before unleashing the full power it has to offer because what it has to offer is flying over jumps and ripping full throttle through the turns! The Traxxas Slash comes fully assembled and Ready To Run (RTR) with some models even including a battery and charger.
2. Maverick iON MT
It sits in the palm of your hand with the excitement of a much larger RC truck. This very impressive, 1:18 scale monster truck is a four-wheel drive with big, meaty tires and waterproof electronics which means almost any terrain is your playground. Oil-filled, coil-over shocks and ball bearings throughout provide smooth handling and stability. Oh ya, and you can race the iON MT 1:18 on our Indoor Racetrack. Ladies and gentlemen… start your engines! Battery and charger included; the Maverick iON MT RTR is affordable fun for those new to RC.
3. Redcat Everest Gen7 Pro
Redcat Racing made this realistic, 1:10 Scale Rock Crawler look and perform just like its full size, 1:1 scale big brothers and is a fun-drive that is perfect for beginners. The key here is realism and it's in the details - folding mirrors, shackle mount bumpers with D-Rings and ball hitch, and a roof rack loaded with scale accessories. On the roof rack you’ll find a spare tire, jack, fuel cans, shovel, axe, and sand ladder. Underneath matters too so checkout the 4-Link suspension and threaded aluminum shocks. It is a rock crawler, so that means it is built for navigating obstacles - not breaking speed records. Have fun learning the driving skills to conquer extreme terrain in any weather. This RTR includes a battery and charger.
These trucks are equipped for wet weather, but when you’d rather stay dry, we invite you to visit our indoor racetrack at 154 Victoria St. West, available to rent to bubble-groups for private race events. There are more than 70 different RC models displayed for you to check out. For a race competition that is easygoing or intense, we have what you are looking for and our knowledgeable, friendly staff are more than happy to answer any questions and show you the ropes. See what your neighbours are saying about us in our 5-star Google reviews and Contact us to book a time or find out more about exploring RCs as one of the most fun things to do in Kamloops.
At RC Nation, we have a full service and parts department, so don’t let a lack of mechanical skills deter you from exploring this fantastic hobby. We are always available to help you find what you need and welcome custom orders and build projects. To put it mildly, we love everything RC and will do whatever we can to share our passion and make your entry into the sport a positive one that will last a lifetime. There is no aging out of RCs. You are RC Nation.
