The RC Scene in Vancouver & the Lower Mainland

If you love RC vehicles, count yourself among the lucky members of RC Nation because there is only one membership requirement and that’s it! If you are here now, reading this article, welcome. YOU are RC Nation and this is for you! In person or online, our one-stop-shop has what you need for RC hobbies anywhere in Canada (land, air, and water).
Today, we are highlighting the RC scene in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The RC scene is active and thriving throughout the area.
CLUBS
Cars & Trucks
Outlaw RC – a non-profit organization that promotes family-friendly RC fun in the Lower Mainland and aims to bring RC enthusiasts of all ages together. Their goal is to grow the love of RC Racing in the Lower Mainland and their motto is, “Grip it and Rip it!” Races occur at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.
Ready to Run Raceway (RRR) – Do you enjoy On-Road Racing? If so, you’ll want to check out RRR. They run every summer, welcoming both On-Road Electric and Nitro vehicles, and their track is located on the South Lot of the BCIT Aerospace & Technology Campus in Richmond. Racing is generally every two weeks from May to September.
Overgeared Racing – Promoting and operating RC racing events in and around the Lower Mainland. Based in Richmond.
Coquitlam Area Modelling Club (CAMRC) – Located in Upper Coquitlam River Park, this outdoor track holds bi-weekly club races from April to September.
The Farm 5th Scale Raceway – the place to come if you want to play and enjoy the sport of RC 5th Scale Offroad Racing. Located in the middle of Barnston Island minutes from Surrey. Free ferry service will get you to the island.
Flyers
National
Model Aeronatics Association of Canada (MAAC) – the non-profit that brings together model airplane lovers from across Canada. Members fly at the local clubs (many listed below) and welcome all enthusiasts, from new modellers to expert flyers.
Vancouver & Lower Mainland
Fraser Valley RC Flyers – Flying club based near Chilliwack. Air field is open seven days a week.
Renegade Flyers – a private flying club located in Surrey. Prospective members welcome to come check out the field.
Mission Wings Model Flying Club – Club field is located at Anderson’s Farm, 15 minutes east of Mission. They fly RC planes, helicopters, jets and control line.
Propnuts R/C Flying Club – RC flying club located 15 minutes from Abbotsford on Matsqui Prairie. Open membership policy welcomes beginners to veterans. Flying instruction available.
West Coast Radio Control Aircraft Flyers – Located at the Upper Coquitlam River Park on Pipeline Rd. New pilots welcome to join the Kamikaze pilots.
Burnaby Lake Flyers – Burnaby Lake “Hood’s Up” Flyers have been taking to the sky as a club since 2000 and continue to welcome new pilots. No gas or glow powered aircraft permitted. They run training programs for both airplane and helicopter pilots.
Floaters
Burnaby Association of Marine Modellers – A group of modellers who gather at the pond in Burnaby’s Central Park to run their scale marine models and sailboats.
